ABOUT
MISSION STATEMENT

HERS mission is committed to a “Patient Centered Approach” focused on the quality of life for those we serve diagnosis with Ovarian Cancer. Our goal is to promote visibility, health care navigation, education and advocacy around a non visible disease known as The Silent Killer; “Ovarian Cancer.”

VISION

We envision this project bringing awareness, education, visibility, open discussions, a willingness for women to become familiar and engage in conversations with the makeup of the female anatomy and initiate self advocacy around self care and the topic of ovarian cancer.

MEET YVETTE JIVES

HERS began after I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, November 2011. I became aware of limited information and support for women diagnosis with ovarian cancer. I envision my program bringing awareness, education, visibility, open discussions, a willingness for women to become familiar and engage in conversations with the makeup of the female anatomy and initiate self advocacy around self care and the topic of ovarian cancer.

During my years within the healthcare systems, I have served in various health care roles developing programs for women’s health, screening and preventative care.

I have been a nurse for 33 years and experienced the ever- changing structure of the health care system designed to stream line medical services for improvised underserved and under insured women.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work which I consistently utilized to strategically mesh with nursing to address systemic barriers to social justice and healthcare.

My goals are to help shape different outcomes for women diagnosis with ovarian cancer and the stage of diagnosis thus increasing the survival percentage within our communities and the family units.
